Welcome to the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Florida Atlantic University

At Florida Atlantic’s College of Engineering and Computer Science, we are thrilled to unveil our new Biomedical Engineering Department. Our mission is to nurture and prepare the next generation of innovative engineers and scientists at the intersection of biology, medicine, computer science, and engineering. At the undergraduate level, with a commitment to excellence and a forward-thinking approach, we offer specialized undergraduate tracks designed to equip our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the rapidly evolving biomedical field:

  • Bio Robotics
  • Biomedical Devices and Smart Health
  • Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials

At the graduate level, we provide the opportunity for the students to continue and advance their education in any of the tracks offered in the undergraduate program or pursue complementary expertise in the following fields:

  • Bio-imaging
  • Bio-informatics

Our comprehensive curriculum seamlessly integrates extensive hands-on laboratory experiences and research with a robust theoretical foundation, ensuring that our students stay at the forefront of technological advancements. Our esteemed faculty and research professors bring a wealth of expertise from various disciplines, including biomedical devices, advanced robotics, tissue engineering, biophotonics, bioinformatics, and orthopedics. They are engaged in pioneering research funded by prestigious agencies such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the Florida Department of Health (FDOH). Please visit our website to gain more information on our innovative curriculum as well as our research activities, and how to join our department.
